A Word --- Or Two

I wanted to share a quote with you today from Nelson Nash’s Becoming Your own Banker. Not remembering what page it was on, I started browsing through the book re-reading some of the things I’ve highlighted. And decided we should enjoy some of them together…

Page 35, “what I’m teaching is equivalent to teaching that the world is round—when most folks think that it is flat.” So true! How many of you have well-meaning friends (we’ll give them the benefit of the doubt!) who said this would never work? Nelson tells us that the Infinite Banking Concept is an exercise in logic. Once you begin educating yourself and set sail you find out differently. It takes courage to go against the world’s traditional “experts,” to examine the facts and act differently. But it’s also very liberating and opens up whole new possibilities just as the discovery of the New World did.

On page 24 and again on page 34 he quotes from the EVA article in Fortune Magazine in September 1993, “If you understand what’s really happening, you’ll know what to do.” That’s what we believe…if you have understanding then you’ll be able to act in your best interest. The book of Proverbs tells us to get understanding.

Then on page 30 he discusses government plans, 401Ks, IRAs etc. and says, “And they keep changing the rules so that it looks like they are trying to ‘help you out.’” I don’t think I’ve spoken to anyone who is pleased with the performance of these plans. On the contrary many have been sorely disappointed!

On page 17 Nelson quotes Jesus when he asked a man, “Do you want to get well?” Ah, that is a very important question, as many who are in the health care profession already know. There are people who don’t really want to get well. They don’t want to make the effort to improve their condition, they enjoy the attention and lifestyle of their infirmity, etc. There are similar questions we must ask ourselves pertaining to our finances. Do we want to do better? Do we want to be in control of our finances? The answer to this question is of the utmost importance, it tells us if we should pursue the implementation of the Infinite Banking Concept. You must have desire for a better outcome than what you have right now.

This book is full of gems, but back to page 30, here’s the quote I had in mind to share with you today, “Only the people who care about others that are dear to them participate in the idea. What a great group of people to be associated with in business.” Yes, what a blessing it is to be associated with people who love and care about other people! And it’s a pleasure to see you exercise the freedom that is rightly yours. We rejoice that you’re making the world a better place by being financially responsible. And we hope that we are a blessing to you as you experience a greater opportunity to control your finances and build wealth.

For those of you who haven’t started the journey yet, we welcome you to ask questions…to gain understanding. We hope to be a blessing to you too as you progress. A few of you receiving this blog are agents; isn’t it a privilege to be working with this kind of client? Let’s count our blessings!
